Ammara Brown and several other artists pulled a great show during her Ammartia Ignition Tour held Friday at the Glamis Arena exhibiting sparks of brilliance from the performing artists. Highlights of the concert included a performance by Nigeria’s banku star Mr Eazi, Winky D and of course Ammara to mention a few. The huge turn out with the majority being the University of Zimbabwe students who paid as low as $5 at the door.
Ammara’s sister Chengeto opened the show with a rather lackluster performance. Then came Nutty O who set the tone for the night, Boom Shelele set the place on fire before he handed over to Tamy Moyo who is not quite over with the audience yet but when she performed her duet with Nutty O fans finally tagged along as Nutty O had brought his ‘A’ game. She finished of her set with Beautiful Ndozvandiri before Takura joined her on stage. They were so good that when she completed her set she got a standing ovation from the fans.
Mr Putiti was next in line and he didn’t disappoint with the ladies screaming throughout his short set. Special mention to Dj Tamuka the backing vocalist he played a huge role for the set to be on point.
Shortly after the Gafa graced the stage and he did what he does when he left the fans screamed for an encore. Takura came after the Gafa and I can safely say he is the hottest act in Zimhiphop. Fans sang along to all his songs Ngoro Yemoto from the recent album included.
Ammara then came and she was not quite connecting with the audience for over 25 minutes until she played Kure Kure, Mukoko and Akiliz which were the only silver linings from her set. Mr Eazi was the last to perform flanked by Ginimbi and Pokello sending fans into delirium. Sadly, for an international act he never quite really hit the gear expected of him.
